Diamond Hands

Crypto slang for holding through extreme volatility without selling — conviction (or stubbornness) as a badge of honor.

“Diamond hands” is community slang praising holders who refuse to sell through brutal volatility and drawdowns, in contrast to paper hands who sell at the first sign of trouble. It celebrates conviction and the discipline to endure the 70–85% drawdowns crypto cycles routinely deliver.

The concept has a real kernel — long-term holders who sat through past bear markets often outperformed active traders — but it also curdles into a dangerous meme when it discourages any risk management or selling of a genuinely failing asset. Holding a sound asset through volatility is wisdom; “diamond handing” a dying token to zero out of pride is not. The line between conviction and denial is the whole game.
