Bitcoin Dominance
Bitcoin's share of total crypto market cap — the market's built-in risk-appetite dial, live in our ticker.
Bitcoin dominance is BTC’s market cap as a percentage of the entire crypto market — shown live in the ticker at the top of this site (around 56% in mid-2026). Rising dominance means Bitcoin is outperforming altcoins; falling dominance means risk appetite is spreading outward.
Traders read it as a cycle thermometer: dominance tends to rise in fearful markets (capital hides in the most established asset) and fall during speculative peaks — the pattern behind “altcoin season.” It’s context, not a trading system: dominance says where money sits within crypto, not whether money is entering crypto at all.
