FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
The urge to buy because price is rising and everyone's talking about it — the emotion that funds every market top.
FOMO is the anxiety that others are getting rich without you, converting green candles into buy orders. It peaks precisely when markets do: the historical pattern of retail volume spiking at cycle tops is FOMO rendered in data. Scammers weaponize it deliberately with countdowns, “last chance” language and fake gains screenshots.
The antidote is structural, not willpower: a written plan (what to buy, how much, on what schedule — e.g. DCA), position limits set in calm moments, and the reminder that crypto has no last train — the market reliably offers another drawdown to those who wait. If a purchase feels urgent, that’s the signal it isn’t.
