Limit Order

An order that executes only at your specified price or better — patience as a fee discount.

A limit order sets the exact worst price you’ll accept: a buy at $63,000 fills only at $63,000 or lower. Unlike a market order, it never pays the spread crossing cost or suffers slippage — the trade-off is it may never fill if price doesn’t come to you.

On most exchanges, resting limit orders also earn the cheaper “maker” fee tier, since they add liquidity rather than consume it. For non-urgent entries and exits — which is most of them, for investors — the limit order is simply the professional default: you set price, the market sets timing.
