NFT (Non-Fungible Token)
A unique on-chain token proving ownership of a specific item — art, game assets, domains, tickets — beyond the 2021 mania.
An NFT is a token with unique identity — unlike interchangeable coins, each one is distinct and individually owned. The 2021–22 mania priced profile pictures in millions; the subsequent 95%+ collapse in most collections reset the space toward function: game items, domain names, event tickets, membership passes, on-chain art.
The durable idea is provable digital ownership and provenance on neutral rails. The durable caveats: an NFT typically contains a pointer to media (which may be hosted off-chain), value is purely what the next buyer pays, and marketplaces remain fertile ground for wash trading and fakes. Utility, not speculation, is where the technology quietly survived.
