FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)
Negative information — real or manufactured — that drives selling; crypto slang for bad news and bad-faith news alike.
FUD labels negativity that spreads fear in a market: sometimes coordinated smears or exaggerations, sometimes legitimate warnings the community would rather dismiss. The term’s dual use is the trap — calling every criticism “FUD” has preceded some of crypto’s worst disasters, where early warnings about failing platforms were shouted down until collapse.
The discipline is source-grading: primary documents, on-chain evidence and regulatory filings versus anonymous screenshots and engagement-bait threads. Real risks (an exchange freezing withdrawals) demand action; recycled scare narratives demand nothing. Learning to tell them apart is the actual skill hiding behind the meme.
