Block Explorer
A search engine for a blockchain — look up any address, transaction or block and see the public record.
A block explorer is a website that makes a blockchain’s raw data readable: paste in a transaction ID, address or block number and see balances, confirmations, fees and history. Well-known examples include mempool.space for Bitcoin and Etherscan for Ethereum.
Explorers are the everyday proof of crypto’s transparency. Waiting on a deposit? Check its confirmations yourself instead of trusting support. Evaluating a token? Its explorer page shows holders, contract code and whether the team’s tokens are moving. Learning to read an explorer is the first practical step in on-chain analysis.
